Biography

Peggy Downs has been committed to charter schools for nearly 20 years and is passionate about supporting the development of strong leadership, effective programs, and inspired teachers. Beginning at Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette, Colorado, she has taught and led Core Knowledge schools in Colorado, TASIS-Switzerland, and Utah. Ms. Downs has served as a member of the Board of Directors for Heritage Heights Academy in Centennial, Colorado, and on the Board of Directors for the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools. Most recently, she served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Vanguard Classical School in Aurora, Colorado. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership (emphasis Charter School Leadership) from Central Michigan University and a Colorado Principal’s License. Ms. Downs has the unique experience of having opened new charter schools as a parent, teacher, director, and board member.
