about this student-led Strand
Student-led activism in response to the climate crisis, racial and gender inequalities, and gun violence has become a powerful force. Young people are speaking out, organizing and and demanding action. This activism is happening on a local, national and global level.
On the afternoon of November 18, 2019 at the 2019 Independent Charter School Symposium, leaders and students from youth-led organizations gathered and discussed how they are addressing these issues. This session, led by youth organizers, featured a short presentation of the work these groups are doing, followed by a panel discussion of the role they want our schools to play in the struggle for climate justice and to help them become more effective advocates.
Students prepared and discussed a resolution that was then presented to CPICS Membership.
